Meet the board of directors for New England Junior Roller Derby. The board offers advisory and logistical guidance for the league. Like other NEJRD-affiliated adults, members of the board are dedicated volunteers.
Wendy Matusovich, Co-President
Wendy has worked in the nonprofit world for over 30 years. For the last 15 years she has been Executive Director of a youth, nature education program. Wendy is a co-founder of New England Junior Roller Derby and has been President since the org started in the spring of 2021. Wendy’s skater, who skated with the team since the beginning, has recently become Coach Slay-La.
Matt Snell
Matt is a co-founder of New England Junior Roller Derby and has been on the board since the org started in the spring of 2021.
Michael Walden, Treasurer
Mike (AKA Dad of Rolling Rainbow) has supported a skater who joined roller derby in 2017. The Waldens joined NEJRD right from the start, and have been avid supporters of the organization, the great work all of the skaters do, and the mission. Mike is the treasurer for NEJRD and works to ensure the team is on a strong fiscal standing. Outside of Derby, Mike works at a Scientific Non-Profit, enjoys hanging out with family, and great (some not-so-great) dad jokes.
Beth-Schatzel-Murphy
Beth is mother of skater Embomber who joined the NEJRD in 2022. Beth helps support the Team with matters related to emotional wellbeing and behavior goals. Beth plays roller derby with the Brockton Bruisers recreational team. Outside of roller derby, Beth oversees clinical services for a youth serving state agency.
Elijah Lapson
Elijah is father of skater Sugar Crush who joined the NEJRD in 2023. Elijah helps to support the NEJRD website and technology tools used by the league. Outside of Roller Derby Elijah works to provide affordable housing for Seniors to age in community in the greater Boston area.
